In the 2nd month of launching the site, we have 10X our traffic and double the quality leads we are getting. It has been our biggest month in the clinic so far.Dr. May Chan
00:04 Liza: Hi May! Thanks for giving up your time to share your experience in regards to our collaboration together. Before we get started, would you like to share what you and your husband do in your business?
00:20 May: Of course. My name is May, and my husband’s name is Reuben. We’re both cosmetic dentists and we help people to overcome fear around the process involved to achieve their perfect smile. We believe that having a good smile is important to your confidence.
Before we started working together, did you have any expectations or goals that you wanted to achieve? Were there any frustrations that you had in the digital marketing realm?
00:53 May: We’re very passionate about changing people’s smiles and lives, and just being able to do what we do best – dentistry. But in the realm of digital marketing, we have no idea how to attract the right people. We’ve got a great service, but we don’t know how to market it to the right people. Our business was founded on word of mouth and referrals, so we needed a boost to take us to the next level. We knew that digital marketing is the way to go, however, we have had bad experiences in the past with a lot of digital marketers. They didn’t understand exactly what we do, and as a result, they weren’t able to help us grow the way we wanted to.
How did it impact your business to be working with digital marketers who don’t understand you guys?
01:51 May: The digital marketers that we worked with in the past were concentrating on increasing traffic, but not necessarily on the conversions, which is the most important step. They didn’t fully understand our target market. Instead of focusing on gaining quality leads, they were spamming people and spending money to get a large amount of impressions, but not necessarily quality leads. In effect, they were going for quantity over quality leads.
02:31 Liza: Like going for keywords such as “cheap dentists”?
02:16 May: Yes! There were definitely lots of people asking for free quotes and searching for cheapest dentist, not necessarily focusing on the quality and durability of the work.

Before we started engaging with each other, I shared with you some of the things that we do. Did you have any concerns around engaging another digital marketer?
02:47 May: My concerns were based around experiences that I have had with at least three different digital marketers that didn’t understand our objectives, yet still promised the world and never ended up delivering on those promises. So there were definitely some concerns around that, but speaking to you, I found that you were very different to the rest of the marketers. Essentially you just really listened and it was obvious that you know what you’re doing. You provided a strategy rather than giving vague promises to try and win me over.
Instead, you suggested having a Business Acceleration Strategy where you looked into our analytics, evaluating our competitions online, broken it down before providing a full strategy in terms of what can be done, what needs to be done and so on. I was definitely very impressed with that.
03:48 Liza: Thank you. So since then we’ve obviously made a lot of progress.
03:53 May: Yes.
Can you share the Top 3 things that you feel had the biggest impact on your business?
04:01 May: The main thing was definitely the strategy session, for us to be able to communicate to you what we wanted in terms of KPI was awesome. The second was actually creating a website. And it wasn’t just a good looking website – it looked amazing and additionally the functionality of the website was superb. The website is based on building the authority and having the right lead magnets in place. Having what we call the cold lead, warm lead, hot lead magnets in place. The website is very thorough and gives us a much high conversion.
04:52 Liza: Since the site has been launched we’ve started also with Search Engine Optimisation, Google Adwords, Facebook Ads as well as the ongoing Video Blogging.
05:14 May: Yes, we’re very excited about that.
Could you share what your experience working together from the strategy through to the implementation and launching of the site was like? What was your experience like in us working together?
05:33 May: The entire experience has been awesome and it completely exceeded my expectations. I’m very impressed with how switched on and intelligent Liza is. She really knows her space, and when she isn’t sure she gets right on to finding accurate answers rather than giving vague, inaccurate answers to save face.
Liza’s also all about numbers in terms of delivering results when the site goes up. The second month in we’ve got 10X the traffic and it’s the highest month we’ve ever had. Our number of quality leads has also never been higher. We’ve been able to have leads with people that we can really make a difference to, who are committed to correcting their teeth or who are having dental fear.
It’s important to work with someone who thinks not just as a web designer or marketer, but a business owner like Liza. She has our best interest at heart to ensure the strategy has a positive impact on our bottom line.Dr. May Chan
There might be other business owners watching this video who may be thinking about updating their website or engaging a digital marketer to help them generate more leads online. Having gone through what you’ve gone through, what type of recommendation would you give them, or things that they should take into consideration when choosing the right supplier to help them?
07:08 May: From my experience, after having gone through multiple web developers and digital marketers is that:
1/ You need to do your research and connect with people like Liza. Make sure that you engage with a supplier who thinks more like a business owner rather than just a web designer. It’s very different when you connect with a web designer who also has her own business. The difference is with a web designer you may get the aesthetic of the website, but with a business owner you’re getting someone with a similar work ethic who will strategise and think like a business owner who focus on results.
2/ Another thing is thinking about the functionality of the website as well, and what you want to achieve – what is the purpose of the website? Rather than having a website that is pretty but essentially useless when it comes to converting or doing what you want, you need a website that works with your objectives.
3/ Make sure that you can trust the person that you’re going to work with. Only choose someone who you believe genuinely has your best interests at heart, not someone who is treating you like a number that they will be able to implement. It’s important that they have your best interests in mind, and who want to enhance your bottom line with their digital strategy.
