I just had a meeting with a customer and they are looking at getting a new website. They asked me for a recommendation of a content management system. So I thought I would make a quick video and share with you what I recommend for a content management system.
The content management system that we recommend is WordPress. Here are the top 5 reasons to use WordPress.
#1 You Are in Control
Reason number one is that it is so easy to make changes. We have had people where they needed to pay their developer a lot of money every time they want to make a change to their website andit is really not necessary. With WordPress, so long as you have internet access, you can make changes anytime you want.
#2 Take Advantage of Great Features Developed by the Worldwide WordPress Developer Community
The second reason why we recommend WordPress is that it is open source. So what does that mean? Open source means you can leverage from developers from all around the world. These developers develop their own software that can plug into the WordPress platform that is suitable to their need. Why is it relevant to you? Because you have access to those software as well! This means that you can leverage from the brains of all the developers from around the world to make it the most effective for your website. Whereas, if you use a content management system that is provided by one vendor, the development and the features is going to be limited by what this one company does, and it can cost a lot of money if you want to have features that is not provided by the specific vendor. With WordPress the features and functionalities are pretty much unlimited based on your requirement.
#3 You Are with a Good Crowd
Third reason why we recommend WordPress is that it is used by 25% of all the websites around the world, including major corporations such as UPS, Sony PlayStation, CNN, Forbes. If this platform is good enough for those company, then what it means is that it’s going to be good enough for most companies from around the world. The most important thing is that the support that you’re going to get for this platform is always going to be there which is extremely important.
#4 Great for Search Engine Optimisation
The fourth reason why we recommend WordPress is that the code is very clean. What does this mean? It means that it is easy for the search engine to be able to crawl through your website, index it, and know what your website is about. This makes it easier for people to find your site.
There are websites out there that is a template base drag and drop site. It seems like it is really easy to use, but the problem with those sites is that there are so many codes at the backend to enable the easy drag and drop functionality. Unfortunately this is not search engine friendly.
With WordPress it has really clean codes. It is very search engine friendly platform and it is easier for the search engine to find your content to get it to as many people out there as possible.
#5 Fantastic for Social Media
The fifth reason why we recommend WordPress is that it is social friendly. It is very easy for people to share your content on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, etc. There so many plugins (like mini softwares) that you can plug into a WordPress platform to put things such as “Share” buttons, so that people can share your content very easily with a click of a button, this will drive traffic back to your site.
What is really important now is to provide valuable content to your target audience as much as possible and make it as easily to be shared as possible. WordPress is a great platform for social media.
So here are the top five reasons why we recommend WordPress. So if you are looking for a new website and you are looking at a content management system, we highly recommend that you have a serious look at WordPress because chances are it’s going to really help you get to your goal.
